This page explains how CatAgeChart handles information when you visit the site. We tried to write this in plain language so you do not have to read it twice. If anything is unclear, you can reach us through the contact page.
What We Collect
We do not ask you to sign up, log in, or share personal details to use the calculator. You can use the tool, read the articles, and leave again without giving us anything.
There are only two cases where any information comes our way:
- If you send a message through the contact form, we get your name, email, and the message you typed
- If you leave a comment on an article, we see your name, email, and what you wrote
That is it on the direct side.
Information Collected Automatically
When anyone visits a website, some basic information is shared by the browser. This is not unique to us. It happens on every site you visit. The data includes:
- The general type of device and browser you are using
- The pages you opened on the site
- How long you stayed on each page
- Roughly where in the world you connected from
- The website that sent you here, if any
This helps us understand which articles people find useful and which ones need work. It does not tell us who you are personally.
Cookies
Cookies are tiny files that websites place on your device. Most sites use them. We use a few simple ones for these reasons:
Site cookies keep the site working smoothly for you.
Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics. They help us see traffic patterns. Things like which pages get read, which ones get ignored, and where readers come from.
Ad cookies are set by Google AdSense and other ad partners. These help show ads that are more relevant to you.
You can turn cookies off in your browser settings. The site will still work, but some parts may behave a bit differently.
Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to show ads on the site. Ads help keep the calculator free for everyone. Google may use cookies to show ads based on your past visits to this site and other websites.
If you want to control or turn off personalised ads, you can do that here:
- Google Ads Settings – https://www.google.com/settings/ads
- You can also read Google’s own privacy policy for more details.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics tells us how the site is performing. It works in the background and does not collect names, addresses, or anything personal. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-Out add-on for your browser if you prefer.
How We Use the Information
We use the small bit of information we receive for simple reasons:
- To reply to your messages
- To fix things that are not working
- To understand which content is helpful
- To show ads that pay for the site
- To follow basic legal rules
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with random third parties. We do not run an email list right now, so you will not get marketing emails from us either.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights about your data. These usually include:
- Asking what data we have about you
- Asking us to correct or delete that data
- Asking us to stop using your data for certain things
If you want to use any of these rights, just reach out through the contact page and we will sort it out.
For Visitors in the EU
If you are visiting from a country in the European Union, GDPR rules apply. You have the right to access, correct, or remove your personal data. You can also withdraw consent at any time.
For Visitors in California
If you live in California, the CCPA gives you similar rights. You can ask what we know, request deletion, and opt out of any data sale. We do not sell personal data, but the rights still apply.
Children and the Site
This site is not made for kids under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has sent us their info by mistake, please email us and we will remove it.
External Links
Some articles or pages may link to other websites. Once you click out, we cannot control what happens. Please read the privacy policy of any other site you visit through our links.
Keeping Things Secure
We take basic steps to protect the small amount of information we hold. No website can promise total security on the internet, but we keep things reasonable on our end.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this page when something changes. The date at the top will reflect the latest version. If anything major changes, we will try to make that obvious on the site.
